Kids Quilt Project

KQP began with one teacher, fourteen fourth graders, two volunteers, and four sewing machines pulled from quilters’ closets. The project grew instantly, and with it our need for additional funding and sewing machines. Up came the idea to start a not-for-profit organization which would enable us to serve more students.

EduQuilters became official in 2005, adding services and workshops as the requests came in. Hundreds of students have learned to quilt with EduQuilter / Coastal Quilters volunteers in and out of school classrooms.

Coastal Quilters incorporated in 2018 and assumed hosting the camp in Brevard County.  Summer quilt camp, now in its fourteenth year, is a tradition. Organizations such as 4-H, Jr. Womens Club, and Girl Scouts have quilt projects which are part of KQP.

Kids Quilt Camp

The 2019 Quilt Camp was held on June 10-14, 2019 at Trinity Wellspring Church in Satellite Beach.

This years camp was full of happy memories, good times and creative talents.  The children and volunteers were fantastic.

Check out the photos from camp.

Kids Quilt Camp Videos for Volunteers

Designed for our volunteers, these videos replace the annual training for camp volunteers. Our intent is to provide valuable information and to answer questions. To prepare for camp, begin with Using the Sewing Machine and follow with the next three, which are sequential, ending with “the secret.”
